CLSA research showcased in spring webinar series

The first presentation, “Multimorbidity in Canada, “ will take place on Wednesday, May 24 at noon ET and will be presented by Dr. Philip St. John, an associate professor and head of geriatric medicine in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Manitoba.  The webinar will use CLSA data to examine the relationship between multiple chronic health conditions and if they are more common in older people or in people with lower income and education.

The final webinar of the 2016-17 series will take place on Thursday, June 29 at 1 p.m. ET. Dr. Megan O’Connell, an associate professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Saskatchewan, will present on her project using CLSA data to determine whether characteristics such as language and age impact how depression is measured with the Centre for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale (CES-D) in the CLSA.

The CLSA Webinar Series features online lectures from a wide range of researchers with an interest in aging. The CLSA webinars provide a platform to discuss progress in health and aging research. The webinars are held monthly from September to June, run for one hour, and provide an opportunity for audience questions at the end of the talk.
