Project Summary

The CLSA was launched in 2010 and is collecting detailed physical health, mental health, social, and economic information on 50,000 individuals from across Canada every three years until 2033. At the start of the CLSA, members of this research team worked to include several measures in the CLSA with the goal of capturing the pattern of neurological conditions in older adults over the 20 years of the CLSA. In this project we will use the data collected in the first decade of the CLSA to examine the frequency, pattern and impact of epilepsy, Parkinsonism/Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and traumatic brain injury over time. The work will provide information neurological conditions in the population in Canada and the impact these have on the older adult population. Collectively, these contributions will ensure that Canada remains current and at the forefront of the population-based neuroscience research landscape on a national and global stage.
