Identification of blood biomarkers to screen and measure severity of OSA

Project Summary

The primary objective of this research is to examine the main effects of 17 blood markers associated with Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) and relevant risk factors. This includes age, sex, smoking, history of hypertension, history of diabetes, history of cardiovascular disease, cholesterol levels, HbA1C, measured blood pressure, and other medical history. The risk factors (age, sex, anxiety, depression, smoking, and alcohol use) will be included as covariates in the models, and we will adjust for them accordingly rather than testing their associations as primary exposures. Additionally, a secondary analysis will explore the relationship between a predefined set of 17 blood-based biomarkers and DNA methylation, potentially contributing valuable insights into genetic factors influencing OSA and associated health including mortality. The objective of this project is to further the research on blood biomarkers to screen and measure severity of OSA in the context of overall health.
