Dr. Parminder Raina Re-Appointed as Raymond and Margaret Labarge Chair in Research and Knowledge Application for Optimal Aging at McMaster University

On April 19th, 2018, it was announced that Dr. Parminder Raina, Lead Principal Investigator of the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging (CLSA), has been re-appointed as the Raymond and Margaret Labarge Chair in Research and Knowledge Application for Optimal Aging at McMaster University. Dr. Raina is also the Scientific Director of the McMaster Institute for Research on Aging (MIRA) and is the Canada Research Chair in Geroscience at McMaster University.

Named in tribute to her parents, McMaster alumna Suzanne Labarge established the Raymond and Margaret Labarge Chair in Research and Knowledge Application for Optimal Aging, which is shared between the McMaster Faculty of Health Sciences and the Faculty of Social Sciences. 

Dr. Raina was appointed as the inaugural Chairholder in 2012 with his research  focusing on epidemiology of aging, interdisciplinary research, longitudinal research and methodology, population health research, knowledge synthesis and knowledge transfer.  His re-appointment as Chairholder will beeffective from July 1, 2018 – June 30, 2023.
