Project Summary

The population of older adults is growing in Canada amid changing workforce dynamics, including increased labor force participation beyond normal retirement age. Hence, working conditions are crucial in achieving a well-balanced aging process. Although successful aging has been generally studied among older adults, its relationship with working conditions remains understudied. Thus, this study will examine the impact of working conditions on successful aging among older adults in Canada. The study will address knowledge gaps on the need to increase the diversity and depth of studies focusing on the aging population by examining how factors such as work pay, work hours, current working status, work schedule, work sector, and term of retirement influence successful aging. Findings from the study will support the creation of inclusive work environments that promote successful aging throughout the work-life course of older adults in Canada.
