Project Summary
This study uses artificial intelligence (AI) to detect undiagnosed glaucoma — a leading cause of blindness — by analyzing retinal images from the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging. Many people with glaucoma do not know they have it, and early treatment can prevent vision loss. Researchers will estimate how many cases AI could detect and compare long-term outcomes between diagnosed and undiagnosed individuals. By simulating a clinical trial using real-world data, the study aims to show whether AI screening can reduce severe glaucoma and improve eye health, guiding future screening policies.
