Project Summary

Using a two-factor model, this project will explore mental health in older adults by considering both wellbeing indicators (life satisfaction, cognitive preservation) and psychological disorders (anxiety, depression, loneliness). This innovative model goes beyond the traditional approach based solely on the absence of disorders, providing for positive and negative dimensions of mental health. We will examine the impact of daily activities and social interactions on these two dimensions and their contribution to mental health in the long term. By identifying mental health patterns in older adults, our research will contribute to comprehending their needs and designing practical strategies to advance their wellbeing. This study’s practical implications will support the development of programs and actions to enhance quality of life and foster positive mental health in older adults.
