Work in Progress
Data Collection: We are out in the field recruiting and collecting data for the telephone interview component of the CLSA. We are conducting interviews with participants across Canada and will continue recruiting until the end of this year. This component will include 20,000 participants which will contribute questionnaire data only to the CLSA.
REB: Research ethics board approval has been obtained for the telephone interviewing component of the CLSA. Applications to research ethics boards associated with each data collection site of the comprehensive component began in July and will be completed by mid-October. For the comprehensive component, REBs are undertaking a collaborative review process which is being led by the McMaster University REB.
Software Development: The CLSA IT team is developing open source software to address most of the CLSA's computing needs. The team has developed software to conduct computer assisted telephone interviews and will be collaborating with experts in informatics and bio-computing to develop the software needed to collect the questionnaire, physical assessment and clinical data collect as part of the comprehensive component of the CLSA.
